After I left Ukraine with the sound of air raid alarms and bombs,
there was the beautiful music of Chopin. As a child, I was fascinated
by the Hero’s Polonaise, but after I became an adolescent, I began to
feel a little bored by its overly melodious music, and I distanced
myself from it. However, a few years ago, for some reason, I became
captivated by its beautiful melody again. I listen to this music with
a complicated feeling as I think of the battlefield. I would like to
believe that even in the war zone, people are giving themselves over
to their own music in between the sounds of bombs.
